Job Description

Overview: As a Data Privacy Support specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and safeguarding sensitive information within the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and controls related to data privacy. This role requires a strong understanding of data protection laws, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other data protection laws.
  2. Training and Awareness: Coordinate data privacy training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees on data protection principles, policies, and best practices. Provide guidance and support to employees on data privacy-related inquiries and concerns.
  3. Data Mapping and Inventory: Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct data mapping exercises and maintain inventories of personal data processed by the organization. Identify data flows, storage locations, and retention periods to assess data privacy risks and compliance requirements.
  4. Privacy Impact Assessments: Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new projects, systems, or processes involving the processing of personal data. Evaluate privacy risks, recommend controls and mitigation measures, and document findings in PIAs.
  5. Incident Response: Assist in managing data privacy incidents and breaches by coordinating incident response activities, conducting investigations, and documenting incident response plans. Liaise with legal, IT, and other relevant stakeholders to mitigate risks and comply with reporting obligations.
  6. Vendor Management: Evaluate data privacy practices of third-party vendors and service providers through vendor assessments and due diligence activities. Monitor vendor compliance with data protection requirements and contractual obligations.
  7. Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with data privacy policies and procedures through regular audits, assessments, and reviews. Identify gaps, deficiencies, and areas for improvement, and collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to data privacy activities, incidents, and compliance efforts. Prepare regular reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Privacy Law, Compliance, or a related field. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, information security, or compliance roles. Familiarity with data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of data privacy principles, concepts, and best practices. Knowledge of privacy-enhancing technologies, encryption methods, and data anonymization techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex data privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks, analyze data flows, and evaluate compliance requirements. Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements, organizational priorities, and emerging trends in data privacy. Willingness to learn new skills and stay updated on developments in the field.
  • Project Management: Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
